A 21-year-old man was fined 24 sheep for homosexual activity by the Nkoranza Traditional Council.
According to a report by Adom FM’s Christian Ofori Kuma monitored by GhanaWeb, the young man identified as Yaw Razak Barima was arrested by a group of young men in the area on Wednesday October 6, 2021.
Baffour Sarkodie, a spokesman for Nana Yaa Dudaa Kani I, the city’s queen mother, reportedly stated that a young man identified as Frank, who was suspected of being involved in the crime, moved from the youth to the house of the suspect.
“It was around 6:30 pm on Wednesday after Frank, who had told his friends several times about Barima’s deed, decided to take them to his house to meet them after the latter called,” he said on Adom FM’s midday news.
Razak, after reportedly caught in the act, denied the allegation of homosexuality, despite six teenagers standing up to testify against him.
However, he is said to have reversed his position and confessed after the Traditional Council threatened to swear an oath.
“He was still persistent until we threatened to swear an oath to him and the six others and he confessed to what he had done,” he announced.
After his confession, the suspect was asked to provide 24 sheep for cleaning.
The cleaning process is said to have already started and the suspect is due to appear again in front of the council in two weeks to clarify his fate.
