Cassandra Twum Ampofo was named “Outstanding Public Sector Communications Professional of the Year”

The head of the Public Relations Unit of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Cassandra Twum Amfofo, was named “Outstanding Public Sector Communication Professional of the Year” at the first National Governance & Business Leadership Awards in Accra last Friday.

The event, held at the posh Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra, was chaired by Professor Emeritus Stephen Adei.

The National Governance & Business Leadership Awards are a C-Level High Impact, Economic Empowerment and Leadership Awards program developed by RAD Communications to promote good governance, economic empowerment and job creation in Ghana.

The event was intended to celebrate and reward excellent companies, organizations and individuals for their contribution to national development.

The theme was: “Leadership and Nation Building: Realities, Challenges and the Way Forward in Contemporary Ghana”.

Ms. Twum Ampofo has more than 11 years of experience in the areas of media work, crisis communication, employee and industrial relations, customer service, stakeholder engagement and corporate affairs.

She currently heads the PR unit of the Ghana Education Service, a public sector agency with the largest workforce in Ghana.

Ms. Twum Ampofo is a results-oriented communication expert with extensive experience in developing and implementing communication strategies and managing PR campaigns.

These strategies have significantly enhanced the branding of the service through effective communication of pre-tertiary education guidelines and the establishment of an online presence for GES.

Communication campaigns like the Double Track and Semester System, Back to School Secondary Education Improvement Project (SEIP) for the World Bank, ‘Right Age Enrollment’ for UNICEF and others are some of her local and international communication strategies

She is an accredited member of the Institute of Public Relations Ghana (IPR) and a member of the International Professional Managers Association (IPMA-UK).

She was also named one of the top 10 women in public relations for two years in a row; 2019 and 2020 by women in PR Ghana.
