Ghanaian defender Daniel Amartey has won the English FA Cup 2020-21 with Leicester City. This is Amarty’s second trophy with the Foxes after winning the English Premier League in the 2016-17 season.
Leicester won Chelsea FC with a single goal on Saturday and secured the FA Cup thanks to Youri Tielemans. The game took place at the famous Wembley Stadium.
Amartey had no chance of playing for his side and was a wasted substitute when his side battled for the Cup against Chelsea.
This will be his second league trophy after winning the Danish Superliga 2015-16 with FC Copenhagen.
He moved to England from Danish club FC Copenhagen in January 2016 after playing there for two seasons.
A move from Inter Allies to Ghana led him to the Swedish league for Djugardens IF in 2013.
Amartey has played 81 games for Leicester City so far, scoring 2 goals. He also had anger as a result of injuries during this period.
Controversy after FA Cup victory
The Ghanaian defender drew unwanted attention after the win. He was seen in a video where he tossed Chelsea’s pennant over his head in the locker room after the festivities.
Chelsea fans beat him up, leading Leicester officials to apologize to them.
Leicester will face Chelsea again on Tuesday for third place in the English Premier League.
The Blues are two points behind the Foxes, Liverpool are just one point behind Chelsea.
