Ghanaian defender Daniel Amartey won his trophy this year with his club Leicester City.

Leicester defeated Manchester City with a single goal to win the 2021/2022 English Community Shield at London’s Wembly Stadium. The goal was scored by Nigerian striker Kenechi Iheanocho with a penalty.

The Community Shield win is one of Amartey’s trophies in English football. He won the 2020/2021 FA Cup in May after Tieleman’s goal separated them and Chlesea.

Amartey has now won all three major trophies in England. In 2016 he won the English Premier League with Leicester.

The 27-year-old defender played a full 90 minutes as a central defender with Turkish defender Caglar Soyuncu. The pair were solid and did not allow the Manchester City attackers to shoot in the direction of the goal.

Leicester City had chances to advance in the first half, but could not use the numerous opportunities.

In the second half, Manchester City played more offensively, but failed thanks to the solid defense by Amartey and Soyuncu.

Leicester City will play their first game against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the English Premier League 2021 2022 on Saturday 14 August 2021.
