Facebook today announced the launch of Marketplace in 37 countries and territories in Sub-Saharan Africa including: Ghana, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Comoros, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Djibouti, Eritrea, Eswatini, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea , Guinea-Bissau, Gabon, Gambia, Benin, Liberia, Lesotho, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Namibia, Niger, Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Western Sahara and Zimbabwe.

Currently available in South Africa, Ethiopia, Kenya and Nigeria, Marketplace is a convenient place where people can discover, buy and sell items from others in their local community by simply tapping the Marketplace icon or www.facebook.com/marketplace to browse and search articles or filter by distance or category.

Kojo Boakye, Director of Public Policy Africa at Facebook, commented on the introduction: “The increase in the availability of the Marketplace for 37 more countries and territories in Sub-Saharan Africa reinforces our ongoing commitment to connecting communities and buying and selling via a simple online Aim to support. Discovering things on the Facebook Marketplace is easy. To get there, people can search for the marketplace icon on the Facebook app or visit facebook.com/marketplace. You can browse entries that interest you and filter them by distance or category. You can also use the search box to find exactly what you’re looking for.

Listing an item for sale is as easy as searching for one in the marketplace. Sellers can share a photo of an item, enter a product name, description, and price, confirm their location, and select a category. They can also post their offers in Facebook buy and sell groups. Interested buyers can find the item they are looking for and notify the seller directly via the messenger. You can choose the payment method according to your own preference.

Tips for buying and selling responsibly on the Facebook Marketplace
