Ghana want to beat South Africa in qualifying for the World Cup

Ghana Black Stars arrived in Johannesburg ahead of the World Cup qualification against South African Bafana Bafana.

The Stars defeated Ethiopia 1-0 in their final World Cup qualifier on Friday at Cape Coast Stadium. The goal was scored by Mubarak Wakaso. Ghana will have to beat South African Bafana Bafana to stay at the top of the group.

South Africa also drew 0-0 against neighboring Zimbabwe on Friday and would be pushing to beat Ghana for 4 points. The two sides would meet on Monday at 4:00 p.m. GMT at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.

Ghana would have to do without some key players due to Covid-19 and the relative travel restrictions, especially those who play in the English Premier League. The list includes Daniel Amartey (Leicester City), Jeffrey Schlupp (Leicester City), Jordan Ayew (Crystal Palace), Andrew Yiadom (Reading FC) and Baba Abdul Rahman (Reading FC).

Kamal Deen Suleymana from France, who plays for Rennes, and Daniel Kyereh from the German team St. Pauli have been called back from their clubs and would also miss the important game.
