GIADEC’s new board of directors inaugurated

The Minister for Land and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor, inaugurated the new board of directors of the Ghana Integrated Aluminum Development Corporation (GIADEC) on Thursday in Accra.

The eleven-member board has Dr. Tony Oteng Gyasi as Chairman, with Mr. Michael Ansah, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of GIADEC, Mr. Martin Kwaku Ayisi, Representative of the Minerals Commission, Mr. Humphrey Ayim Darke, Representative of the Association of Ghana Industries and Mr. George Mireku Duker, Deputy Minister for Land and natural resources, as members.

The rest is; Abena Osei-Asare, Deputy Minister of Finance, Dr. Benjamin Ofosu Adoo, Representative of the Integrated Aluminum Industry, Mr. Jaezi Orleans-Lindsey, Dr. Henry Benyah, Nana Adutwumwaa Dokua, Okyenhemaa and Nana Amampene Boateng Twum II (Nyinahinhene), all as presidential candidates.

At the inauguration of the Executive Board, the Minister urged members to make sense of President Akufo-Addo’s vision of a “Ghana Beyond Aid” by fulfilling GIADEC’s mandate to develop an Integrated Aluminum Industry (IAI) in Ghana.

“As much as I recognize that much work has been done on the President’s vision of developing an integrated aluminum industry in Ghana, we need to move from plans, strategies, proposals or what we intend to do to what we’re doing about the vision of an IAI, ”he said.

He added that “the Ghanaian people are ultimately looking for us to have this industry here in Ghana”.

Mr. Jinapor commended CEO Mr. Ansah for building a strong foundation for the IAI to launch barely two years after starting the company.

The chairman of the board, Dr. For his part, Oteng Gyasi thanked the President and the team for the trust they had placed in us.

He pledged the commitment of the Board of Directors in directing the affairs of GIADEC to achieve a fully functional integrated aluminum industry.
