Republic of Ghana President Nana Akufo-Addo said he made a mistake in his comments on the Cape Coast Harbor Pledge.

The President had previously made a remark that he would not promise to build a port in Cape Coast, a remark made by Vice President Dr. Publicly ridiculed Mahamudu Bawumia.

Before the 2020 elections, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the vice-president of Mr. Akufo-Addo, said that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) would build a port in this part of the country.

At the start of the campaign in Cape Coast he said: “The people of Cape Coast, I have good news for you, we are building a new port in Cape Coast and a new airport in Cape Coast.”

But President Akufo-Addo on Cape Coast-based Eagle FM Monday October 18 that this was not part of his promise.

“The engagement was never aimed at a port; it was to a landing site, ”he said.

He and Dr. Bawumia were mocked on social media after this development.

For example, a former deputy minister for information, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, said President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo did not remember his party making that promise.

In a series of tweets in response, Mr. Kwakye Ofosu said, “[Former] President Mahama has made the port of Tema the largest in West and Central Africa. As for Prez Akufo-Addo, he doesn’t even remember promising the people of Cape Coast a port. “

He added, “What about President Akufo-Addo and Ports and Harbors? Unless he appoints a CEO for the nonexistent Keta Port, he denies ever promising to port the people of Cape Coast.”

But when Nana Akufo-Addo clarified his comments on Peace FM from Accra on Thursday October 21st, he said, “I made a mistake.”
