Addo-Kufuor is a member of the New Patriotic Party. He became a Member of Parliament in January 1997 after winning the December 1996 general election.

He was re-elected to the fourth parliament of the fourth Republic of Ghana as a member of the Manhyia constituency.

Addo-Kufuor was elected member of the Bekwai constituency of the Ashanti region in Ghana in the Ghanaian parliamentary elections in 2004.

He won on the ticket to the New Patriotic Party. His constituency was part of the 36 parliamentary seats out of 39 seats won by the New Patriotic Party for the Ashanti region in that election.

Addo-Kufuor was MP for Manhyia and Secretary of Defense from 2001 to 2007 under President John Kufuor, his brother. From June 2008 to 2009 he was Minister of the Interior.
