The President of the Republic of Ghana His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has officially appointed Ms. Mawusi Nudekor Awitey as Director General for Technical and Vocational Education (TVET).

Madam Mawusi is a promoter of self-employment and an advocate for women’s rights.

Madam Mawusi Nudeko Awity has over 22 years of entrepreneurship and professional training experience to enable youth to acquire relevant livelihood skills, especially young women in non-traditional trading areas.

Currently Mawusi Nudekor Awitey is the Executive Director of the National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI).

Before her appointment, she was active in social and gender development as Executive Director of the Network of Women in Growth (NEWIG) Ghana, which she founded.

She had previously challenged the position of the National Women Organization of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

PROFILE OF MAWUSI NUDEKOR AWITY

Mawusi Nudekor Awity is a seasoned technical and professional education and training (TVET) expert, social entrepreneur, small business development expert, professional and entrepreneurial capacity developer for women and youth.

She is a promoter of self-employment and an advocate for women’s rights. She has over 22 years of entrepreneurship and professional training experience to enable young people to acquire relevant livelihood skills, especially young women in non-traditional trading areas.
Mawusi Nudekor Awity is currently Executive Director of the National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI). Prior to her appointment, she was active in social and gender development as Executive Director of the Network of Women in Growth (NEWIG), Ghana, a non-governmental organization (NGO) she founded.

Mawusi Nudekor Awity holds a Masters in Fine Arts (MFA), University of Ghana, Legon and a Certificate in Livelihoods and Markets from Coady International Institute, St. Francis Xavier University, Antigonish, Canada. Certificate in Vocational School Management from the ILO Center, Turin, Italy.

Mawusi Nudekor Awity’s special areas of expertise include vocational training, small business development, theater arts (theater in development), gender advocacy, personal skills development and self-development.

She has competencies in project management, consulting, resource mobilization, crisis management and the ability to supervise and motivate people at all levels.

She has many recognitions and awards for her credit. Some of the major ones are; Best in the Professional Sector for the 8th Business Executive Excellence 2021 Award; Prize 2021 from the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) in recognition of an outstanding contribution to the development of youth and students; 7th best performing CEO in Ghana (2019); MTN 2019 Heroes of Change Award; Leading Innovative Women Honorary Award (2013) from the Global Women Innovative Network, UK and the Government of Ghana; Recognition of Outstanding Service to Humanity and the Feminine, from Methodist University College, Ghana (2013); Honorary Certificate (Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (2016).
