President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will hold talks this week with the manufacturers of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines in Germany about plans to establish a national vaccine institute in Ghana.
The president hopes to win the support of the global vaccine manufacturer to found the vaccine institute.
The meeting is part of President Akufo-Addo’s official working visit to Germany at the invitation of Chancellor Angela Merkel.
Presidency Communications Director Eugene Arhin told the media at the maiden edition of the Jubilee House press briefing with the President’s press corps in the Jubilee House last Friday that there were also discussions about sourcing additional Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines for the national COVID- 19 vaccination program.
Arhin said the president would participate in the G20 compact initiative program set up by the German Chancellor to encourage private investment in Africa, including Ghana.
He said President Akufo-Addo’s visit is aimed at deepening ties of cooperation and friendship between Ghana and Germany.
As part of the president’s itinerary, he said the president would give a speech at Aug.NS Anniversary of the founding of the Rhine state in Germany and an event as a guest of honor at the Academy for International Politics on the Rhine.
Before his return on March 28, President Akufo-Addo would hold talks with the investing community in Germany.
Mr Arhin also briefed the media on the President’s regional tour and his activities in the Jubilee House last week.
