NIA closes all Ghana Card Registration Centers for 1 week

The National Identification Authority, which is responsible for issuing and replacing new Ghana cards, has announced that it will close its offices from Monday, October 25, 2021 to Tuesday, November 2, 2021.

However, if you want to register for your Ghana Card, you can only do so today, 11/23/2021, at NIA headquarters in Shiashie.

According to the NIA, the offices (registration centers) located in various Ghana Revenue Authority and Registrar General Departments across Ghana will be closed so that the NIA can work more efficiently to deploy its permanent staff in different locations.

The Ghana Card has become more and more important as an ID, as it is already being used to register SIM cards and may be needed before the salary is paid, hence the “madness” afterwards.

The NIA has also announced that it is opening new permanent offices across the country that will be operational by November 3, 2021. Old registration centers will also operate at the NIA headquarters in Shiashie. Overall, the following will be in operation:

  • sixteen (16) regional offices
  • two hundred and seventy-five (275) NIA district operational offices and
  • the Premium Registration Center in the NIA Head Office

The NIA would like to inform the general public that the services at all thirty-four (34) registration centers of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Registrar General’s Department (RGD) and NIA headquarters will be available from Monday, October 25th through Tuesday, November 2nd. November 2021. The registration service is only available tomorrow, Saturday, October 23, 2021, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at the NIA headquarters.

The termination of services in the GRA and RGD offices has become necessary as the NIA prepares to deploy staff to its permanent offices nationwide. A total of sixteen (16) regional offices, two hundred and seventy-five (275) NIA district operational offices and the Premium Registration Center at NIA headquarters will be open across the country as of Wednesday, November 3, 2021, enabling NIA to provide its various services, including new registrations, Collecting or issuing cards, replacing cards and updating personnel files, brings them to the people’s doorstep.
