In its first term, when the New Patriotic Party (NPP) had 169 seats in parliament, it just dragged everything through parliament without consideration, but now they are unable to do so because they have the same number of seats as the National Democrats have Congress (NDC) has done so, said former President John Dramani Mahama.

He stated that there is no majority, there is no minority.

The NDC’s presidential candidate for the 2020 elections went on to say that this is a good result for the people of Ghana as it requires impunity from the ruling party when it has an overwhelming majority in parliament.

“We increased our seats from 106 to 137 seats and increased the NPP from 169 to 137. Without the twist that they twisted against us in some constituencies, we would have had a clean majority in parliament, ”he said.

Mr. Mahama will address chiefs and people of the Upper West region on Monday as part of his “thank you tour” and will serve as control over the Akufo-Addo government.

“As we speak, there is no majority, no minority. This is a good result for the people of Ghana as it takes on the impunity that the ruling party normally has when it has an overwhelming majority in parliament.

“In the first term of office, when the NPP had 169 seats in parliament, they simply pushed everything through parliament without consideration. But now they are unable to do that because they have the same number of seats as the NDC, ”he said.
