“People forget their wedding vows after putting so much effort into a glamorous wedding” – Catholic Priest Ugwu

Nigerian Catholic Priest, Rev. Fr. Kelvin Ugwu claims that people’s efforts to ensure that their wedding ceremony is glamorous and unprecedented has hampered their understanding of marriage vows.

In light of recent events in which many partnerships and marriages broke down and developed problems, the priest found that couples are more preoccupied with frivolities than with truth.

He lamented the fact that many people today devote their time to planning an elaborate wedding ceremony, disregarding the basics of marriage, leading to a high rate of marriage failures.

“I promise I will be TRUE in both GOOD times and BAD.” This is one of those powerful words you say during marriage. We can even write a doctoral thesis that analyzes what it means to be faithful in good times and bad, ”the priest wrote.

“Unfortunately, the time people spend sharing aso ebi (uniform party dress), choosing the style of nails and haircut, and choosing the best man mostly doesn’t allow them to sit down and wonder if they’re really saying those words say.”
