SG table tennis club organizes first tournament in Ho

The SG Table Tennis Club organized a youth tournament for children under the age of 12 on Sunday, October 17th, 2021 at the Anlokordzi taxi rank in the Ho region, Volta.

The tournament, called the SG Table Tennis Open, was the first of its kind in the Volta regional capital in terms of table tennis development and focused on finding talent for the future.

At the tournament finale, which was broadcast LIVE on Facebook by Eze1 TV, 12 children competed against each other in top form. After the group and quarter-finals, James Agbalekpor defeated Dogbey Noble, while Prince Agbenyo defeated Cyril Kpeklu in the second semi-final for a sweet punch against James Agbalekpor in the final. In the final, the two determined boys presented their A-Game to the admiration of the audience to win the first edition of the SG Table Tennis Open, with Prince Agbenyo emerging as the winner of the tournament.

According to the organizers, the SG Table Tennis Club, the tournament was organized to raise awareness among the children and develop the game in them so that they can become national and world champions.

Priscilla Selase Gidisu, popularly known as Priscilla SG, the CEO of the SG Table Tennis Club is a table tennis player and a passionate fan of the game. She promised that more such tournaments would be organized among the children to discover talent in the community. She also used the appeal to corporations to come on board and support the SG Table Tennis Club with more table tennis tables and equipment so that the children can train more and prepare for regional and national tournaments.

The champion and runners-up went home with prizes such as math sets, exercise books, table tennis bats and balls, all of which were sponsored by Priscilla SG as a motivation for the kids.
