The Minister of Land and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor, inaugurated the new GIADEC Board of Directors on Thursday, September 2nd, 2021.
The Minister urged members to give meaning to President Nana Akufo-Addo’s vision of “Ghana Beyond Aid” by fulfilling GIADEC’s mandate to develop an Integrated Aluminum Industry (IAI) in Ghana.
“As much as I acknowledge that there is a lot of work being done on the President’s vision of developing an integrated aluminum industry in Ghana, we need to start moving from plans, strategies, proposals or whatever we have in mind what we want to do about the vision an IAI has done, ”he said.
He added, “What the Ghanaians are ultimately looking for is that we have this industry here in Ghana.”
However, Mr. Jinapor was full of praise for GIADEC’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Michael Ansah, who laid a strong foundation for the launch of the IAI two years since the company started.
The chairman of the newly constituted board, Dr. Tony Oteng Gyasi, for his part, thanked the President and the team for the trust they had placed in us.
He pledged the commitment of the Board of Directors in directing the affairs of GIADEC to achieve a fully functional integrated aluminum industry.
The board of directors is led by Dr. Tony Oteng Gyasi directed. Members include Mr. Michael Ansah, Chief Executive Officer of GIADEC, Mr. Martin Kwaku Ayisi, Representative of the Minerals Commission, Mr. Humphrey Ayim Darke, Representative of the Association of Ghana Industries, Hon. George Mireku Duker, Representative of the Ministry of Land and Natural Resources .
Other members are the Hon. Abena Osei-Asare, representative of the Ministry of Finance, Ing. Benjamin Ofosu Adoo, Integrated Aluminum Industry Representative, Jaezi Orleans-Lindsey Esq., Presidential Candidate, Dr. Henry Benyah, presidential candidate, Nana Adutwumwaa Dokua, Okyenhemaa, presidential candidate and Nana Amampene Boateng Twum II (Nyinahinhene.), President.
