Twitch streaming returns to the Xbox dashboard

Microsoft is bringing the Twitch streaming integration right back to the Xbox dashboard. Twitch first appeared built right into the Xbox One dashboard in 2014 and took advantage of the original Snap interface to allow players to stream straight to the service. Now it returns to the Xbox Guide UI with similar integration and webcam support.

Alpha and Skip Ahead Alpha Xbox Testers can access the new integration now and it’s easy to use. You can adjust the game volume or microphone volume, include party audio from friends, and see a list of viewers and see how long you’ve streamed over your games with an overlay.

The Twitch integration also includes the ability to switch resolution and bit rates from 360p at 500kbps to 1080p at 6500kbps. Microsoft also supports USB webcams, and most plug-and-play webcams should work as a camera option for Twitch streaming.

Twitch has Xbox streaming support in its own app, but the dashboard integration is a welcome return to Microsoft has removed its snap function and Twitch integration in 2017. We expect this new Twitch integration to be widely released in the coming months once Microsoft has fully tested it with Xbox testers.
