However, a message from the SRC’s deputy election commissioner on Sunday, August 22, 2021, revealed that the date for the debate had been “put on hold” and that a new date would be announced soon.

“A debate for SRK candidates planned for August 23, 2021 has been put on hold. The commission is setting a new date for this activity immediately, ”it said.

The electoral commission had previously announced that the SRC elections, scheduled for September 10, 2021, could be postponed after the reopening of level 200 and 300 students due to a strike initiated by the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) has been moved.

Speak with UniversNews, SRC Election Commissioner Henry Ackon, indicated that elections should take place two weeks after the resumption of levels 200 and 300.

“Should it happen that the resumption date is postponed, it will actually affect the day on which the elections are held. The election is due to take place in the second week of school resumption, so if it is postponed it means the election day would be postponed, ”he said.
