On Saturday, October 23, 2021, Ghanaian musicians, Wiyaala and the Patchbay Band put on a historic show in Burj Park in Downtown Dubai at the maiden edition of the All Africa Festival, a promotion event initiated by Nina Olatoke and supported by Emaar Dubai of Africa culture as a global conversation.
In the shadow of the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, there can be no better advocate of Africa than Wiyaala, who opened her set with her signature tune “Tinambanyi,” a song that predicts the rise of the underrated.
This was followed by “Siiko”, which speaks of African tradition in contradiction to modern approaches and calls on people in Africa not to lose sight of their roots and their identity. In “People Don’t Stop”, Wiyaala was again in a message calling on her people to keep fighting for their dreams.
Her hit song “Yaga Yaga” formed the conclusion, which the audience enthusiastically joined in a call and response. The power of the performance was made possible by the experienced musicians from Patchbay, who indulge at the highest level in the charisma, vocal power and athleticism of the lady, who is also known as the lioness of Africa for good reason.
